About the Opportunity

IBM Research – India is inviting applications for its AI-focused Summer Internship Program for students from engineering and science backgrounds. This internship offers exposure to cutting-edge technologies, research projects, and direct mentorship from IBM scientists working on advanced AI systems.

Role Overview

• Work with IBM teams on developing scalable and efficient AI models for enterprise use.

• Support research in areas like IT automation, agentic AI systems, time-series modeling, geospatial AI, multimodal models, AI security, and reasoning-focused AI.

• Build, test, and evaluate prototypes using modern AI frameworks and tools.

• Collaborate with mentors on real lab projects and contribute to ongoing research activities.

Technical Skills Required

• Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in Pandas, NumPy

• Solid understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, and Problem Solving

• Knowledge of Linear Algebra, Probability, Statistics

• Experience using VS Code, Jupyter Notebook, Git

• Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals (classification, regression, clustering, neural networks)

• Ability to work with large datasets and perform data analysis

• Hands-on experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch

• Familiarity with LLMs, Foundation Models & Deep Learning

• Exposure to GenAI libraries such as LangChain, Crew.ai

• Experience with unstructured data processing

• Understanding of AI risks and agent safety concerns

• Experience with AI platforms like Watsonx.ai or similar

Preferred Skills

• Experience with container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift

• Strong foundation in deep learning workflows and distributed AI tools

• Advanced knowledge of AI pipelines, GPU workflows, and model optimization techniques

Eligibility

• Students pursuing B.E./B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech, Dual Degree, or Ph.D.

• Minimum 70% or 7.0 CGPA in the ongoing degree

• Candidates should be available for internship from May 2026 to August 2026 (up to 3 months)
