About the Opportunity

IBM Research – India is offering a Summer Internship for students passionate about Artificial Intelligence, Large Language Models, Cloud Technologies, and Advanced Computing. This internship provides hands-on industry exposure, mentorship from IBM scientists, and the chance to work on real AI and research projects.

Role Overview

• Work with IBM Research teams to develop and optimize Large Language Models for enterprise applications.

• Assist in training, finetuning, and running inference on advanced AI models.

• Build and test prototypes for real-world use cases.

• Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, and research teams in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Skills Required

• Strong coding knowledge in Python or Java

• Solid understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, Linear Algebra, Probability & Statistics

• Experience with Pandas, NumPy, Git, Jupyter, VS Code

• Knowledge of Cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, Azure)

• Understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, virtual machines, networking, security, monitoring

• Basics of AI/ML concepts

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience with PyTorch, FSDP, and model training pipelines

• Familiarity with Dense, MoE, Mamba, and multimodal LLMs

• Exposure to GPU optimization and training stack internals

• Knowledge of LoRA, SFT, RL and tuning techniques

• Understanding of Triton, Hugging Face, NCCL, and distributed training

Eligibility

• Pursuing B.E./B.Tech, M.E./M.Tech, Dual Degree, or Ph.D.

• Minimum 70% or 7.0 CGPA in the current degree

• Available for internship between May 2026 – August 2026 (up to 3 months)
